オオワシ / Steller’s Eagle
能取岬の沖合には流氷の帯、そして沿岸には氷塊が漂着。その上を注意して観察すると・・「オオワシだ！」
A band of drift ice was looming offshore of Cape Notoro, and ice blocks was drifting ashore. Looked carefully at them and found… “Steller’s eagle!”
氷から氷へ飛び移るオオワシもいた・・
An eagle jumping from ice to ice…
歩けないほどの強風の中、飛びながら食べるオオワシにはびっくり！
In winds so strong that people could not walk, it was amazing to see Steller’s Eagles eating while flying!
流氷はやがて知床半島の南側に回り込み羅臼沖へ到達。羅臼で越冬中のワシは流氷上に陣取る
The drift ice went around the south side of the Shiretoko Peninsula and reached the coast of Rausu. Eagles wintering there took up positions on the ice.

Seawater froze and formed lotus-leaf shaped ice at Cape Kiritappu on the Pacific Ocean side. A white-tailed eagle perched on a candle-shaped rock and was looking around.
