Rishiri Island in northern Hokkaido is a circular shaped island of about 60 km in circumference. Mt. Rishiri Fuji, the symbol of the island, is a beautiful 1721-meter-high mountain; about half the height of Mt. Fuji. It takes 30 minutes from Sapporo to Rishiri Airport by plane.

天売島 / Teuri Island

Teuri Island, a small island with a circumference of 12 km, is said to be where one million seabirds breed. It takes 3.5 hours by car north of Sapporo and another 1.5 hours by ferry. The port on the right (north) of the picture below is the ferry terminal, and ‘Akaiwa Rock’, a bird watching point, is on the left (Southwest).
